Greening our visitors’ holidays by raising awareness and promoting the environment
- Editions and information:
- Since 2016, the Tourist Office has been offering comprehensive information on the environment, illustrated by themes such as ‘Putting green into my holiday’ . The aim of this initiative is to raise visitors’ awareness of environmental issues, including fire risks and restrictions on access to forest areas. Management of the beach weather forecast, available on the website in July and August. In addition, the free distribution of recycled plastic beach ashtrays, of European origin, demonstrates a concrete commitment to limiting pollution. Finally, a wide range of documentation on sorting, recycling and eco-responsible behaviour is distributed in partnership with the Communauté de communes to help holidaymakers adopt a sustainable approach.
- Eco-events and promoting the region :
- The year 2023 marked a turning point for the promotion of local riches through initiatives such as the ‘Richesses Croisiennes’, the ‘Soirée des Étoiles’ and the ‘Journée de la Posidonie’. These events, organised by the Tourist Office, aim to raise public awareness of marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Audioguides were also created in 2023 to enhance the visitor experience. Since 2017, a partnership with the Port-Cros National Park has led to the development of guided themed walks, as well as the introduction of a marine trail and the Esprit Parc national label for guided sessions. An exhibition dedicated to the marine protected area, organised in 2023, highlighted the need to preserve these fragile ecosystems. In 2022, the Tourist Office signed the Act 4 Posidonia charter. For several years now, it has also been taking part in the Sustainable Development Days organised by the local authority’s environment department.
- Promoting soft mobility and public transport:
- The destination is committed to promoting soft mobility. This includes encouraging the use of public transport and promoting the free summer shuttle service. Publications and maps also include precise information on the location of electric charging points, making it easier to use these vehicles. The aim of these measures is to reduce environmental impact while offering a sustainable alternative to conventional motorised travel. The Tourist Office is also participating in the purchase of urban mobility for bicycle parking and self-service repair stations in the village.
